Pro speaker system question from a newbie

Hi,

I just got a new zed today with the 14 speaker setup and wondered what others experience of it was.

I'm quite surprised to find that very little audio seems to come from the rear speakers, I've tried setting the fader to the rear bias to get some feel from the rear speakers behind the seats, but when I put my hand up to the grill, it hardly registers any vibration, in fact it almost feels like any vibration is purely sympathetic from the other speakers in the system, even when played at full volume to the point when it distorts up front.

I'm just interested to hear from anyone else who has this setup and what their experience is.

Congrats on the new Z.

It sounds much better when you listen to music via DAB in my experience. Talk radio doesn't like the surround setting, iphone sounds ok, but DAB music sounds excellent with surround selected.

Check it is would be my tip. Otherwise worth getting it checked. You tend to hear most behind you at ear level when it's working.

Mine is the middle system, and my rear subwoofers generate a good base line

I have the same system as you, the rear subs rarely get excited but they are felt more than heard, if not through the grille. The footwell speakers are also bass drivers and they kick out plenty of sound. It keeps the soundstage in front of you. I've been pretty impressed with the system overall.

That's pretty much my experience, although I've yet to tune the eq to my liking, but it does seem quite low to mid heavy and a bit ponderous. Just a bit surprised that not much seems to come out of such a relatively large enclosure. I wondered whether it was faulty.

Better than the standard system though.

I've also noticed I don't like to write Z as it looks like Zee to me (probably all the us forums I've been browsing) but I've not seen many people write it as zed

If you have the middle system then I think the setup is different, it's a shame it's not possible to get more info from the dealers on things like this but I guess it's impossible for them to support every possible configuration on every single model.
