Private plate transfer time

Good morning all, my wife has bought me a private plate for my birthday on Monday nothing outrageous but it has my initials so personal to me. My question is if I do the transfer online (I have the certificate already) how long until I can fit the plate?

Doesn't it tell you on the DVLA site. I'm pretty sure it's instant although you won't see the new V5 for up to a week.

Thanks Denis I have looked but couldn't find the answer (wood for the trees) and with so my private plates on here I knew someone would know

I've just put my private reg on my Z4, which I've had on retention certificate for some years, and you have to post the certificate and log book back to the DVLA. Took about 2 weeks.

Thanks. Never knew that. Its not easily found either, as I was looking at a few pages on the Gov site earlier at cherish plate transfers and none of them linked to this.
