Went for a hoon up the lakes last week and noticed a really annoying tinny rattle had developed on bumpy roads. Seemed to be coming from down towards the o/s rear wheel from where I was in the cockpit.

Had the zed down my friends garage during the week on the shakers and got underneath it. Had a good probe but couldn't find anything. I'd had the brakes apart a few weeks ago and knew the pads didn't always sit flush so decided it could be them. Also got it into my head that the rattle wasn't there when I braked (it was quite inconsistent and hard to replicate anyway.)

So today for the second time in a month I had the rear brakes stripped apart and reassembled with great care. It was as I was putting them back together that I noticed a couple of coins down the side of the seat between the rails. Digging them out I noticed the noise they made hitting against the rail was pretty much the same as my rattle.

So long story short I stripped apart and reassembled my brakes all because of 70p dropped down the side of my seat.

Always fun :D

Awesome that you've got a mate with a garage - even for these red herrings!
