Seems any of the cleaning that got done was by the de-tailers before sale.
I know some bits were expected, and the discoveries as you own one are bound to be found.
So far I seem to be fairly lucky, but one of the bits was the dammed exhaust tips. Shortly after I bought the car, in November and it was fairly warm, (tho chilly as hell and flash light in hand, or mouth) I just couldn't do with black exhaust tips. So I worked on them till my fingers froze.
Hardly made a dent, but at least they weren't black inside and out any more, just grey (heh). Tonight it was way warmer. First time I thought about them as I walked around the car doing a little detail work.. I went hmmmmm.
An hour later and with the mosquitoes biting me, I was done for the night. Looks like a couple more hours to get em up to snuff.
Was kind of chuffed when the chrome starting rubbing off where the welds are on the inner/outer potions of the tips. So that's something I'll have to deal with over the summer.
I do have access to copper gauze from work which should remove any of the tarnish remaining and buff up hopefully quite nicely.
How they look now, and you can imagine what they looked before. :x
Dammed lazy car owners.
