pre setting heated seats and steering wheel activation

Last year I recall I was able to set an outside temperature at which the seats and steering Wheel heating would automatically activate. Now its turned cold I note that this no longer activates.

Have searched the menu on the idrive and cannot find how to reset it. Has this now been removed and has to be paid for or am I missing something?

[ref]Nanu[/ref], Go to Home/Settings/Climate comfort/Climate control Rules
Its a useful feature, having just upgraded our family car to a 24 plate Volvo XC40 Ultimate, BMW, it seems has more home comfort settings than Volvo :x

Though the Volvo can pretty much drive itself, whereas the zed, just jerks the steering wheel.

Thanks, Cant recall seeing the Climate control Rules but will have another look. I think those options have disappeared from the menu

Perhaps a pic of your submenu or look would help understanding what you are doing ;).

[/quote]Will do next time but in the Climate settings there are only options for setting the temp for driver and passenger when on automatic and level of the fan nothing else as an option. I am sure last year there were other options which allowed me to set at what outside temperature the steering wheel and the heated seats cam on as I had it set on 5 degrees.

Its no big deal switching them on manually but I keep thinking what else has disappeared and why?

It is an app (Climate control rules) which is part of a paid service.

Cheers, last year it was just part of my usual features on the idrive when setting the climate controls within the comfort package. I didnt think it was now part of a paid for service. I will have a look in the Apps

I havent driven the car in over a month, so when I got in it this evening I found this and set it

Checked the list of Apps today and I don't have the one shown in the images for climate control rules and no options on the Idrive either.

Can only assume its just dropped off in error during the last update or its now part of a paid for service.

Update: Not having the facility to have the seats and steering wheel activate automatically was until today problematic. The thought of having to instead press two individual buttons was tiresome.

On a whim today I summoned up Samantha (My cars name, the wife thinks she looks like a Samantha?) and asked her to activate them and she did as asked. Not as good as automatic but Much easier than pressing buttons :D

BMW should not be allowed to remove a service, feature or function which was available when you purchased the car. If it became an 'option' after your purchase, so what? You paid for it, they can't take it away. I would not accept that.

Need new tyres very shortly and waiting for a response if they will price match Halfords. If they do I will enquire when I go into the dealership

So, what exactly would you do about it?

If the feature was removed due to a software update, I would ask for it to be reinstated. I would imagine most countries have some sort of consumer protection laws and bodies to assist.

Some connected drive services are free for the first 3 years, then become a subscription. The feature we are talking about here is one of those. After 3 years you either pay for said feature/s (as it will be part of a bundle), or you don't. You haven't lost anything as you were given 3 years free at time of purchase.
If you feel so strongly about it, you could always take BMW to court in your country, if they have broken any consumer laws you will win.

I am somewhat confused by the connected drive services. Yes after 3 years I did loose them but for some reason after one particular update they resumed. I have all the other services but not this one being discussed. Really I shouldn't complain but will tactfully ask next time I am in the dealership. Until then, will just as "Samantha" nicely to switch them on when needed.

I could try and use this as an excuse with STMBO that I need a new Zed but don't think she will fall for it just yet.
