Pre Purchase Discussion

So while I wait for the restrictions to lift so I can collect my new purchase the I have been in more detailed discussion with the seller - apparently the car has 2 minor issues with the roof.

The first relates to remote operation from the key - apparently the windows lower but the roof only retracts part way and stops and remote operation does not function at all regarding closure - evertying works fine from within the car with the electronic opening and closure buttons.

The second relates to the plastic trim on the passenger side - this is forced out of place when the roof is closed and the seller has been unable to remedy (photo attached).

Does anyone see these as major issues and would be keen to hear from anyone who has had a similar issue if they managed to resolve.

Hi and welcome
Regarding open/closure by key fob, as it works fine from in the car, it sounds to me that there's not enough power in the key fob battery
It should be noted that the key fob can only be used for opening the roof not closing it (unless a Gaptech module or similar is fitted)

Sorry can't help with the second issue

The Rubber in part 2 of your questions, funnily enough i sorted mine out this week . Open roof fully and check if has been glued peviously , clean any old glue off, reposition ,and re glue using a decent contact adhesive.

If the owner is having to hold the button on the key to open the roof then this is why as it’s notoriously troublesome.

Gaptech or reinhold modules are the solution.

The other issue I’ve seen a few times and is easy to sort.

Without Gaptech or other systems fitted, the key has to be held in for the full duration of the roof opening.

The key doesn't close the roof.

The key can be programmed to open and close the roof- but the button does have to be held for the whole process and it doesn’t always complete first time.
