Pranged my alloy again - bloody annoyed too

Not in the Z but the 5 series. Collecting my neighbour from Manchester airport and parked in the short stay multi-story. Ever so careful as the last time I took it to a multi-storey I managed to catch 3 alloys on the stupidly high curbs they put at every tight bend.

Got in, negotiated 5 up ramps to find a parking space, collected passengers and negotiated the 5 down ramps. Phew.

Then at the exit barrier where you put the token in to lift the barrier I felt the dreaded scuff of the near side wheel. Got out for a quick look see and there's about 3 inches of wriggle room in total and loads of damage on both curbs where other unfortunate folk have scuffed their wheels

Can't for the life of me understand the need for these high and tight curbs

I know I should be more skilful or buy a smaller car and the missus says I need to get a life as I'm really grumpy about this.

Ah well another £75 to BMW I guess.

I must admit that In those conditions, I get someone out to ensure I am not going to hit anything. Don't care about people being impatient behind me, like you say they make it a challenge.
 
Yes very frustrating. Have you seen alloy wheel protectors? I am thinking of getting some on my VW T4 once the wheels have been refurbished. Its a nylon strip that runs around the wheel/tyre and you catch that rather than the wheel itself. Allegedly.
 
Have exactly the same thing atr a local shopping mall. Can't figure for the life of me why they've pinched the kerbs immediately after the exit barrier!
 
Can sypathise, did one of the Z3 alloys on my local hospital car park where they have vicious high kerbs on the barrier entrance and exits to the car park and where the width is the same as a push bike :o Its virtually impossible not to clip the kerb is you have a large 4x4.

I've recently moved to a new works car park which is a multistorey where they have 3 barrier lanes on the entrance and exit with high kerbs on each lane, but luckily the lanes are straight but you still need to concentrate.

Plusses are the bay I park in is nice and wide and the car park is secure and patrolled during the day which reasuring and the car stays nice and dry, but then its costs me 29 quid a month which I guess is pretty good.
