Booked in at powerflow in burnley on Wednesday for a full stainless steal CAT back system with an oval back box! But after making a few calls people are now warning me about how loud it's going to be as it would only be a small rear silencer! One bloke said he would have to put a disclaimer on the receipt! Sureley it can't be that bad??

Ive got a powerflow exhaust, had it since last xmas (present from the wife), i went for the mid sport option, but it started to drone at motorway speeds, went back & he modified it, got to say, if someone had asked me exactly what i wanted my car to sound like, this would be the sound....
Not too loud, does not drone/ boom, the best £220 ive ever spent. BTW i used powerflow at Stafford, he was superb, even opened up on a snowy day

Well would you believe my previous car was a vaxuhall corsa 1.8 SRi which had a powerflow cat back system! I loved the sound and was one of the reasons I went back! I must say though I never had any problems with the police and found it to be quite tame at low speeds! Just don't want the exhaust on the Z to be so loud I can't hear the radio!! I had a back box because i didnt see the point in replacing stainless for stainless....
As for the more expensive exhausts, it depends what you want from your exhaust, if you want a 10 -15 bhp gain as some claim, knock yorselves out. In reality would you even feel the difference ??? & for x3 the money....
I wanted my Z4 to sound how in my book it should have sounded from the factory (350z etc), the straight 6 is a beautiful sound, there is nothing better than going through a tunnel, top down listening to straight 6 music.

Not sure if you know this but, the standard exhaust is 304 s/s so why would you replace it?
I had a back box because i didnt see the point in replacing stainless for stainless....

I think all this comes down to whether I should just get the back box and hope that gets me the sound I want or do I keep the quote as it is and have the middle silencer removed and have the pipe go direct to the CAT? not sure if its going to be stupidly loud though as I still want to use the as my daily. would love it to sound like the 350Z that's what im after really.

Well went down to burnley this morning to powerflow only to be told that the back box won't fit and be can't do it!! Bloody fuming! It's been booked in for 2 weeks and I called him on Monday!! Says my best bet is to look for a second hand system! Really pissed off! Been excited for two weeks!
