Power Steering EPS Failure/Error Code 6112 (Ignition Wiring?)

Hi, I'm having some issues with the steering on my 2004 Roadster (3.0i SE) and just wondering if anybody has experienced anything similar.

A couple of months back my power steering failed and the orange warning light came on the dash. My mechanic couldn't get any communication from it with his diagnostics tool (Snap-On Solus Legend) and the EPS motor showed no signs of life, so he suggested I send it to ECU Testing for them to rebuild it. When the motor arrived back he installed it back into the car and everything seemed to be working perfectly for about two weeks then it died again - although no dash warning lights. This time the diagnostics tool gives the error code '6112 Ignition' but not quite sure what could be causing this - any ideas?

I can't find much from searching that error code, I did find quite a few posts regarding torque sensors but if that was the issue surely that would come up on the diagnostics tool (code 611C I think?) I'm going to give ECU Testing a call and see if they have any suggestions, but thought it was worth a post here. Thanks in advance!

Just an update after speaking to ECU Testing, they have suggested it could be a break in the cable between the ignition barrel and steering column wiring. Is this an easy DIY job/plug and play wiring loom that can be replaced or does it require disassembly/soldering?
