Think you are right Steve with trying to disconnect the battery, there is no over boxes on my car so he must of connected to the right plug. It's a pain resetting up my car Ice unit once the battery has been disconnected. it's just trying to remember were to find all the setting's on the menue of the head unit. oh well nothink to do on Sunday may have ago
Cruise control is now working 
No need for codeing and i did not disconnect the batter. i had a spare hour or two today so i removed the lid of the DME to check that the wire was in the right hole, now i'm sure that most of you will agree that the distruction for this kit is a little hard to follow, looking at them they refer to the 40 pin on one of the sockets so when i checked my frend had coonected the wire to pin 40, if you read on it refers to pin 27 which is were it got confused, away i removed it from pin 40 and poped it in to pin 27 
all works fine now. i was booked in with a indy next week for it to be coded so i have saved myself there and in any case the codeing would not of worked has it was wired in wrong.
