Possible eBay bargain?

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/55-BMW-ALPINA-3-3-Z4-ROADSTER-S-LEATHER-CLIMATE-LOW-MILES-RARE-CAR/273866619664?hash=item3fc3b8fb10:g:wZMAAOSwxr9c7YYF

OK guys, go for it...thoughts?

Could be!

Still got time and bids are already quite high which suggests it will go higher.

I’ve personally never liked the alpina z4. Wheels are horrific and the rest of the kit looks proper halfords

Definitely worth a pop they are based in Reading and sell a s**t loads of cars on eBay - by all accounts they don’t have a problem if you want to cancel the sale if you change your mind once you see the car in person.

All I would check II whether they have had this car listed before which would suggest someone has done just that.

If you check the sold auctions for that eBay seller, loads of their vehicles have sold more than once. Is that due to cancelled sales, or because the seller wasn't happy with the price reached? Seems fishy either way.

all their cars are from BCA (british car auctions) And more often than not are webuyanycar cars, but there is no screen sticker on this one so i cant tell, bit of a gamble with that sort of car tbh.

Localish to me and they seem to sell ex-auction stuff and 'usually' problem cars. Saying that, they do usually admit to the ads on being a problem car, so do sell cheap, as they bought them really cheap. Personally I would rather go and see anything of that value than just gamble on auction sites before committing to bidding.

i think these guys bid on their own cars to push the price up and to try and get a buyer who has been caught in a bidding frenzy. I think I read about them a year or two back.

Exactly.

Anyone who owned this kind of car bought it because they knew what it was, not by accident as would cost more than your average Z4.

If it was a reasonable car, no one in their right mind would chop it in to be paid peanuts & if they did it’d be picked up way before by someone in the Trade, not end up in a place that’s renowned for being at the bottom end of the market.

No second hand car will be perfect, though it’s likely this one will need the love of someone with deep pockets. I also felt the pic of the interior looked like ithe belt was quite worn & normally pictures are good at hiding wear.

Good hunting for anyone who’s interested

... difficult to prove though certainly plausible

The white pen on the windscreen is a bit of a give away.

I don't know anything about them but from reading the ad they are specifically saying that if you are not happy when you view the car after winning the auction you do not need to buy it.
Not sure what to make of that but it would mean that if the car is not as described they are wasting their own time and money as well.

Read about them on pistonheads and other review websites / threads. Their cars are typically ropey and their sales tactics very questionable.

For those in the know not exactly common knowledge.

Hate buying cars and this place sounds a bit ropey to me, I'd swerve it or be prepared to spend heavily on it
