As the owner of a bunch of geese and a flock of ducks that I turn out onto the verges every day I see people stop or slow for them daily. In seven years there has only been one duck hit by a car. Sometimes the geese actually sleep in the road.

We have no shortage of considerate drivers here in the UK. ime.
