Another pint of unobtainium?

6-800 to be built, apparently. Lovely car, another one none of us can buy..

"Purists have been grumbling about Porsche’s recent moves with the 911, but they will have it their way when the company launches what could be one of the coolest 911s of all time: the 911 R, powered by a naturally aspirated engine with around 500 horsepower—and fitted with a manual transmission."

Granted, if you can get your name down, i'm confident you'll make a tidy £50k reselling your car as soon as you get it.

It sort of proves that manual is in demand, a real manual rather than the PDK manual of course ...

*nb i suspect the photo is just generic 911 rather than indicative of the 911 R future model... (i hope...)

Problem is - they know it's in demand, people opt for manual over the FASTER EASIER pdk reasonably regularly, yet they still restrict production for some elite invited few (pvr you must be on their list by now!). I'd be driving a GT4 now if they were actually obtainable.

Soon when Porsche make a model you can actually buy it will make the biggest headlines. I think they are in grave danger of disappearing up their own arse.

Lol - gah that's a great spec tbf - I love the fact its not bewinged and 'track optimised' - it's the perfect 'Yes I have a porsche, and no I don't care that you think it's a carrera 2 because I know how amazing it is and I love driving it' imo. The want is strong in that one - although I'd still agonise between it and a Cayman Gt4 if I ever was presented with the choice...

Sort of proves that maybe 800 people may demand a manual. Maybe. :poke: But then those people wont actually drive them. The will mostly go to myseums and collections. :|
