For low mileage cars, I don't think it is worth it.
Well I had comprehensive warranty on my car an in 18 months it had 2 * Front disks and pads, 1 * Oil Sump, 1 * rear disks & pads, one alarm micro switch and my car had done the 22000 miles when I sold it.
One thing worth noting is the DD (pay monthly) warranty is a PAYG warranty so if you sign up and have £2000 worth of claims in the first two months you can cancel in the third month without penalty.

If you know the history of the car, you know what is good or bad. Some cars are bad from day one with loads of warranty work and others are good.
As mine had nothing wrong in the first 3 years, I did not see any point in spending on the warranty on a car that does 5k a year and I don't need to use either. There is always goodwill if anything major goes wrong anyway.

I dont have any warranty although have considered it. £56 isnt too bad Skillick. Is that through online or dealer direct? Must admit, Im more inclined to save each month and if something major happens then dip into that instead (and if not then I've got myself a holiday somewhere).

I paid £1200 for my BMW full warranty, and am going to cancel it soon, as the car will be SORN over winter...
Have had the Z from new with no problems and before the manufactures warranty ran out I rang up BMW to get it extended. Once I explained that I was based in Germany the reply was a "No" as I'm overseas. Was advised to go through BMW Germany which I did and they never got back to me and that was over two years ago. Do I, don't I chance it! Chanced it and so far so good. I don't do high mileage and I know the cars history from day one. It's a risk you take. No one can say yes or no confidently as with the previous replies you can see that some have had good luck and others bad.
I'm always repeating myself about this, but I don't believe in warranties. The cost is calculated to allow the provider to make a profit which also means the average person really does not gain by having a warranty over time, only the very UNLUCKY few will.However, it's all down to your personal circumstances and tolerance of risk etc I suppose. When some hear the cost of repairs it will scare them, enough to take out a warranty

Had my car now for heading towards 60k miles and so far only had two rear springs replaced. I cover a lot of miles and the warranty probably made more sense to me but actually i'm still in pocket by not having it. Those tempted by a warranty should consider having a car repair fund instead to encourage money to be put aside for repairs so when/if they do come the hit wont be so hard. Some savings accounts offer like 8%APR at the moment for regular savers, something like that could be used to save for repairs.

Interesting feedback, I'm surprised so many owners don't have a warranty. I've taken the plunge and cancelled mine, am covered until October 1st, hope the Good Lord is smiling on me from then on. Cancelled the breakdown too, £148 for BMW Emergency Assist or £75 for Green Flag, not sure I can see why the BMW cover is double the price.
If I choose to renew the warranty it will be £113 for identical cover in the future, as if £87 wasn't high enough :evil:
Just worked out I've shelled out £1740 since I've had this cover, with no claims, hurts when you look at it like that!

I've got the AUC that came with the car as i got it from a dealer, in the short time I've had it 4 months, it's gone to a dealer for ABS \ DSC Sensor and O2 Sensor.
Apart from that it's been a charm but I'll stick with the AUC for a couple of years yet. Mines appears to be higher mileage compared to others (48K).

I pay £54 per month for comprehensive with £250 excess. I do about 5,000 miles a year and so far the car has been faultless under extended warranty. But I like the safety net the warranty provides.
I just accept the £600 per year for the warranty, £500 tax and £500 insurance as a small price to pay to drive such a brilliant characterful sports car.
