Happy new year all.

I got into detailing last year when I had my Honda S2000. It had soft paint and was very easy to work with and produced very good results, removal of all swirl marks etc. I bought a Das-6 dual polisher (rated for soft and medium paints) and the polishing kit below.

I'm going to buy the Meguiars polishing kit suitable for hard paints - http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/pb-hard-paint-polishing-kit-cat1.html#aMasterZG220HP0 But will I need to upgrade my machine to the DAS-6 Power Plus which is rated for hard paints, or will I be ok?

What machines does everyone else use?

It's not the machine - it's the pad and product you are using. Correction "aggressiveness" is more a function of pad/polish than machine. That being said, there are some great machines out there today from Rupes, Flex, and Griots.

On the budget side, there isn't much that can be corrected with a Griots 6", microfiber pads, and a compound like Menzerna FG 400. Moving up the scale, I really like Rupes machines, pads, and polishes. There are so many good products out there that are user friendly today. I think the Griots 6" is available in UK/EU as a "Das 6 Pro" or a Das 6 HD or something similar. It's has like an 800w motor.

The Flex 3401 is a forced rotation dual action machine. It's a pretty powerful correction tool due to forced rotation. It may not be the best machine for the inexperienced, but it's fairly user friendly.
