PO420/29F4 code - could it be the MAF?

Hi All,

Quick question... do you think my MAF sensor is on its way out??

I am a victim of the dreaded PO420/29F4 code.

I am hoping that it's not the CAT and something further upstream, tested the O2 sensors and all good, used Cataclean numerous times but no joy. I only use premium fuel. The car does run really well, and emmissions are fine, no smoke, never failed an MOT on emmissions, in fact the car runs so sweet and smooth.

The EML usually comes on every 30 miles with the P0420/29FE code, but when I clean the MAF sensor with MAF sensor cleaner I can get 150 miles before it comes on. Do you think its worth me trying a new MAF?

Its a 2008 2 litre. 106k miles

TIA !

Karl

Start by disconnecting the MAF and running it on the default map in the DME. If the fault comes back it's probably not the MAF.
