Please help me fix my coupe hatch release

Help, please ! Today my wife tried to pull the hatch closed by grabbing the emergency latch release - which succeeded in pulling the thin cable fully out of the assembly, and the latch is in the 'closed' position, but around nothing, instead of the latch striker. I could use some pointers on what I need to do to reset and repair.

Is this a full "take the latch out of the hatch" job ? (I suspect YES). Any tips ?

Sorry if this has been posted on before, but I could not easily find the information I need. I thank you in advance!

Not an expert on this at all- we don’t have emergency boot releases in the developed world

:poke:

But- can you put a screwdriver in the latch whilst operating the mechanism? That should ‘open’ it to revert it to the right location

Not sure how you then sort the safety mech

I've tried prying the catch open while triggering the solenoid to release the catch, but that does not seem to be working.

Well, I guess if-and-when I get this, I'll have a new post for "How To" . . . .

Update: Thanks for the encouraging word - more jiggling did it, and it works! Repairing the emergency release cable will wait for the Winter

You`re even pointing it out yourself now before someone else does  I`m sure we will forget in time :)
