Playing music from iphone

My z4 has an old iphone cable wired through the glovebox. Now with my old iPhone 4S I could plug it in and although it wouldn't charge it would play music through the radio on the cd mode.

I have recently got an iphone 5s and bought a 30 pin to lightning adaptor however this doesn't seem to work.

Anyone got any ideas what I can do?

If it didn't charge before then you can just replace it with a normal 3.5mm jack if your car currently doesn't have one.

Otherwise you're looking at a desion/dice iPod kit.
 
You need a genuine apple adapter. i had the same problem with a docking station, bought a lighting to 30 pin adapter for a tenner would charge the iPhone from the old 30 pin cable but not play music. bit the bullet and bought gen apple adapter for £25 and the music played no prob. They will give you 2 wks to take it back for a refund if not happy.
 
Same problem ! The cheaper abay & amazon ones don`t support audio, i can charge the phone but can`t play music. Genuine apple one works. :thumbsup:
