Picked up the new Z, started well...but didn't continue :-(

Only a minor issue really but it's taken the gloss off a little.

Drove up to Stug's place earlier today to do the deal. Car looked and drove as well as I remembered. Stug and I drove around with the top down and didn't notice anything untoward.

Everything checked out perfectly. Stug was a perfect gent throughout the whole deal and I set off as happy as larry.

Just before I got home I stopped at a pal's house to show him (incidentally he's just sold his Z4M) and we went for a spin. Top up but windows down and we both noticed a rattling from the nearside rear.

After stopping to inspect it was clear the brake pad retaining clip had gone awol, As seen in these pics comparing the two rear brake discs.




Sod's law this issue arises at 6.30pm on a Friday.

Any input on potential issues arising from driving with no clip other than rattling?

Also, what's speediest avenue towards solution? Stealer in the morning?

Stuff happens. Won't make a jot of difference to driving other than a rattle.

Dealer wil likely have to order so you'll have by Tuesday if ordered Saturday.

The spring is a Standard part acros many models, it'll be in stock and you can fit it in no less than 10 mins (once you work out how to jack it up and get the wheel off).

Can pick them up on ebay for like £10, no drama, plus replace them all and paint the calipers, job done and the car will look better for it.

I lost one, no rattling for about 3 months until I replaced the clip - I have a spare one as had to buy a set of two if you're ever near Kent - paid £7.95 so u can have other for £3.99

Phoned the dealer this morning. They had one in stock.

£7 inc VAT (cheaper than the ones I saw on eBay)

Thanks to the wheel style, fitted in about 15 seconds.
