I'm not in love with the E89 but at least it's a purposeful and coherent design, IMO the SLK looks heavy and dated at the front and a bit too like old cousin Crossfire, but the interior looks good.

It will be interesting to see how the dynamics stack up, it could be close.

Wondermike will probably know more about this than me but that SLK pic looks like it is a really bad picture of it... If it does look like that then I think it look hideous, but Merc styling in recent years has got better, so I highly doubt it will look bad.

Yeah just got in, having a look now. I thought it looked pretty ugly but I am now warming to it. It is a bad pic, there are better ones. Think I'd still prefer an E89 over it though.

+1 ! the front end of the merc looks as if its made from cereal boxes, way too square for a small car?

I prefer the front view and interior of the Z (also has a bigger nav screen)

But the rear of the merc looks pretty nice.

Also i'd have one of the merc efficient engines... but let AMG have a play with it first!!!

Not a massive fan of either designs TBH but the Merc just shades it for me (sorry E89ers)

As a current E89 owner, I actually quite like the new SLK. The square front end looks quite aggresive IMO and the interior looks straight out the SLS AMG.

What is it with these auto boxes all the time?

The Abarth we recently got has one of those manual flappy peddle thingies, which is great for that car, but for a true sports car I just want a manual gearbox.

Dunno, sounds seriously cool though
