Phantom Tuning - Swanscombe, Kent

Hi

Does anyone on the forum have any experience with Phantom Tuning in Kent in terms of remapping?

Don’t know about those remappers but the general opinion is that there’s not much more to come from the normally aspirated 3 litre zed, a dozen or so ponies?

If that...

They are quoting 20 horses, which seems to be the same sort of figure or thereabouts from other tuners across the UK, so just shy of 280bhp. I'm thinking that whilst I won't see a massive surge in power, the map might improve throttle response and perhaps tighten things up further?

I'm planning on getting my 30i mapped soon too. I'm so much after any extra power as I would have bought a 35i if so; it's the slow as balls throttle response, stupid soft cut limiter and odd engine braking behaviour I'm attempting to rectify. Compared to my B7 RS4 or my mates 92 M3 it just feels wrong to me.

I know its not what you want to hear, but it's not worth it. You'd be lucky to tell the difference. Generally remaps are only worth it on turbo'd cars.
Better off trading to the next engine size up if you want more power.

I have a 35i decat, FMIC and stage 2 remap. Probably close to 400bhp - an M5 left me like I want moving last week. There's always bigger fish in the sea!
The 35i isn't that sharp on throttle response even after a remap.

Sorry!

My fault, I worded the question wrongly: what I meant to ask was: does anyone have experience of a tuning shop called Phantom Tuning in Swanscombe?

However what I appear to have said based on responses is: is it worth remapping a naturally aspirated engine?

I know the answer to whether it’s worth remapping a naturally aspirated engine, so we’re good to go on that one :D

If anyone however has any experience of that tuning shop in Swanscombe that would be great

Consider yourselves told :? Not really sure that’s the best way to ask for advice but your thread go for it  good luck

I had my Z4 remapped about 6 weeks ago at `Road Rage Tuning' in Wrotham (Kent). Basically its a couple of young fellas with a rolling road who rent an unused barn on a farm complex.

I'd made a number of enquiries at various places and knew theres not a great deal you can do with the 3.0L. All the quotes came back with a 7-9% increase in power/torque at around the £400-£500 mark. I decided to leave it. That seemed too much for too little, if you know what I mean.

Anyway, about 2 weeks later I received a promotional email from RR offering 10% off all remaps. They just happened to be the cheapest of the quotes I'd had...and I bit. Here are the increases they got out of the car:

Before: Power 243.2HP @6300RPM - Torque 225.0(ft-lbs) @2800RPM
After: Power 267.8HP @6800RPM - Torque 282.4(ft-lbs) @2050RPM

So taking into account the RPM discrepancy, I make that an increase just shy of 10%....for £360....and I can definitely feel the change. The car is just that bit sharper, more responsive. Its obviously not huge but it is noticeable and I'm more than happy with my purchase.

Hi, did they supply a rolling road print out to go with those claims? I find that extremely hard to believe as it’s now making more torque than a 3.2 litre M car.
Look at the comparative outputs of the m54, N52 and the s54 engines :?
