Las Vegas Porsche Club of America and SCCA will be having another Driver's Ed Track Event at Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch located in Pahrump, Nv (approx 1 hour out of Vegas).

The link to the event itself is here scroll down till you see Nov 15 event

This is the same group that hosted the PDS that I recently attended, these guys put on a superb event, even threw one hell of a party after the event. Very well organized. You can see my writeup about it on this forum!

You can signup and pay online here just go to the events section and look for the Nov 15-16 event.
I paid online at that link and everything went through just fine. If you've never been on a track before I'd say go with the yellow group, if your allright you can get bumped up to white pretty easy.

Some stuff I snipped from the LV PCA website,
-Snip: Track opens at 7:00am and the mandatory Driver's Meeting is at 8:00am. Las Vegas Region Porsche Club of America and Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) present Open Track Days Nov 15-16, 2008 at Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch. Gates open at 7:00am. Cost is only $299.00 for 2 days or $175.00 for 1 day (less than last year). At Track registration fees will be $225 for one day, or $350 for both days. Timing is available with transponders for rent at $30/day. We will be running the 3.1 mile layout. -snip

Some minor details, they'll recommend long sleeve 100% cotton shirts or racing suits if you have em, gloves, light comfortable shoes etc. They weren't real strict with clothing requirements so no worries if you don't have an item they recommend. Lots of people had shorts on (of course it will be mid Nov so check the weather for Pahrump before you head out. You'll have to fill out a tech inspection checklist before you can race, you can check the checklist yourself. The tech may or may not double check stuff on your car (make sure your car is empty of loose items before you get to tech inspection), I think it depended on their mood. You will need a racing helmet SA approved, not a motorcycle helmet. I don't know if they will have any availiable to rent.

I say again, this is a great event and the track is pure awesome. It's a well designed track. Great facilities. They had some superb BBQ for sale there for the last one and from what i've read will have one again.

As other people have told me and I have confirmed, this event will make you a better driver. Also you get the added fun of racing around the track at the limits of tire adhesion (once you get brave enough that is). That's when you really feel the power/performance of the Z4 come alive.

So ya'll come on out here (I think Pahrump has cheap hotels or stay here in Vegas) and join me at this superb event.
There is a ton of info on their website as well concerning a PDS

That is not all they have in Pahrump. For what it costs to race you can get about 10 min. of grade C entertainment.

Any limitation for convertible? I think that's what you drove last time if I remember the pix correcrtly...
Mary and I might come and who knows, we might take both cars and have sone serious mariage conpetition... If not, are we allowed to take turns? Thanks for sharing this...

Don't think so. I will be in Las Vegas over Thanksgiving weekend though.

No there was no limitation for convertibles, I did see some info when poking around that they want the helmet to be 2 inches below the rollbar when your seated, but no one so far as I could tell checked this. Although I think my head is well below two inches so the tech guy may of just eye balled it. There was one Porsche that went around with the top down, but I overheard someone say it was a stubborn lady that has been with the group forever. I didn't have a problem, and decided to keep the top up for that super tiny bit of reassurance and to help keep the sun from messing with me too bad.

You should take both your cars, I saw a couple married people in two cars out there, they guy/girl in front of the S2000/NSX were recently married.

IMZ4N: Yeah I started to mention that is Pahrump, where certain things (well ok MOST things) are legal. I don't know how expensive it is, but I've heard there is a spa or two there.....and other activities.... :?
I figured though most people are married and don't have HBO anyways.....

I was trying to make reservation at one of the ranch for a SPA treatment while we are there... For some reason the firewall here at work block the site... :?

LOL, ok, ya'll do know Pahrump is famous for being the closest place to Vegas where prostitution is legal.

Why are you telling? Is there another reason why people get a SPA treatment in Pahrump? :poke:

Basically. I won't, i'll be looking to party it up with you fellers on the strip. Of course the club there might throw another party saturday night. That was fun.

Sounds good... I'll let you know what Mary and I are gonna do... With the way the market is doing lately, a good portion of the disposable budget vanished

Speaking of disposable budgets, I'm now limiting myself to one day of racing only. I haven't decided which day yet. I may just pick whichever day you decide
