Las Vegas Porsche Club of America and SCCA will be having another Driver's Ed Track Event at Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch located in Pahrump, Nv (approx 1 hour out of Vegas).

The link to the event itself is here scroll down till you see Feb 7th event

This is the same group that hosted the PDS that I recently attended, these guys put on a superb event, even threw one hell of a party after the event. Very well organized. You can see my writeup about it on this forum!

You can signup and pay online here just go to the events section and look for the Feb 7-8 event.
I paid online at that link and everything went through just fine. If you've never been on a track before I'd say go with the yellow group, if your allright you can get bumped up to white pretty easy.

Some stuff I snipped from the LV PCA website,
-Snip: Track opens at 7:00am and the mandatory Driver's Meeting is at 8:00am. Las Vegas Region Porsche Club of America and Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) present Open Track Days Nov 15-16, 2008 at Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch. Gates open at 7:00am. Cost is only $325.00 for 2 days or $200.00 for 1 day (a slight increase from the last event). At Track registration fees will be $225 for one day, or $350 for both days.-snip I'm guessing they will have transponders for rent like the other events and they'll probably still do the 3.1 mile loop which has 20 something turns.

Some minor details, they'll recommend long sleeve 100% cotton shirts or racing suits if you have em, gloves, light comfortable shoes etc. They weren't real strict with clothing requirements so no worries if you don't have an item they recommend. Lots of people had shorts on (of course it will be Feb so check the weather for Pahrump before you head out. You'll have to fill out a tech inspection checklist before you can race, you can check the checklist yourself. The tech may or may not double check stuff on your car (make sure your car is empty of loose items before you get to tech inspection), I think it depended on their mood. You will need a racing helmet SA approved, not a motorcycle helmet. I found out for an extra fee you can call Spring Mountain, but in the past they have had helmets available for rental for $20/day.
I say again, this is a great event and the track is pure awesome. It's a well designed track. Great facilities. They had some superb BBQ for sale there for the last one and from what i've read will have one again.

As other people have told me and I have confirmed, this event will make you a better driver. Also you get the added fun of racing around the track at the limits of tire adhesion (once you get brave enough that is). That's when you really feel the power/performance of the Z4 come alive.

So ya'll come on out here (I think Pahrump has cheap hotels or stay here in Vegas) and join me at this superb event.
There is a ton of info on their website as well concerning a PDS

You might notice this post is starting out exactly like the Nov post did....copy & paste was my friend

Thanks Matt!!! Unfortunately the SC for the Z3 is nowhere in sight... But who knows, I might get the call sometimes soon and still have some PTO to use up :D

I hope to see you there!

If AJ & I can drive to LA to go on a drive then by golly you Cali people can come here and race :D :poke: :poke: :driving:

Here is an invite email from Tony Zito, they will have transponders available, and maybe an Autocross too.

I would like to invitation to you to join the Las Vegas Region, PCA and Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) as we host our first Open Track Event of 2009.

It is on February 7th and 8th at Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch.

This will be the first of a four event session and as part of the weekend (for student/novice drivers), we will be offering a car control clinic which includes braking and skip pad exercises, along with classroom instruction. Clinic participants also receive one-on-one instruction from our cadre of certified Instructors throughout the weekend.

For the more advanced drivers, we offer 3 different run groups, based on experience, to maximize both safety and track time (30 minute sessions).

We are also looking into running an Autocross course which will be open to all participants at no additional cost. For those interested in running the Autocross only, a small fee may be assessed.

Lap timing is available with transponders for rent at $30/day.

Track opens at 7:00am and the mandatory Driver's Meeting is at 8:00am.

Cost is only $325.00 for 2 days or $200.00 for 1 day. Save $25.00 off of at Track registration by registering on-line at our webstore http://lvrpca.webstore.us.com/.

Ok, well, I'm going to keep this short and sweet.
I had fun, well not so much Saturday due to weather but I'll throw that in later when I decide to do another writeup. I'll just edit the hell out of this post and get it moved to another forum.
I did get a vid that's 10 minutes long with a ton of wind noise.....again when I feel like it, I'll post it somewheres. Unfortunately during the vid/run session it was raining and very slick, so pretty much whenever I thought about stepping on the gas the tires would spin and the back end would start rotating. Also thanks to the slickness I plowed a good bit too. But I'll post it either way.
(MTheory, if your wondering I'm fairly certain this was the second run of the day Sunday).

I kept shiny side up, but had a major problem with hot brakes on a few laps. On one run session it was go fast for a lap, cooldown for two, etc. It was old fluid in the system so I'm hoping that is the cause, as when it was warmer I had almost no problem with brake fade and only the fronts had axis deluxe pads. Oh and my brakes are super squeely now.

Oh well that's my tease for now. Off to get another beer.
Note: Opening the door lock on an M via a cellphone and key from the house does not work with Iphones, MTheory can tell you more :D :poke:
