PDI & Servicing

Hi all

Just a brief question if you don't mind on the above subject:

How soon should the first service be after the PDI? Should it be on the mileage or two years?

Reason I ask is my car I am due to pick up has a PDI in late December 07 and then first service at 15.2k miles in mid July 10.

Both the PDI and first service were completed by Sytners so you'd think that was OK. First service reports oil service and brake fluid were done along with RR pads and RR discs. Service book stamped and signed OK.

Does this sound OK and normal?

Thanks,

It should be at most 2 years after the PDI so technically this has been 2 years and 8 months and has missed the service by 8 months. It's amazing how many posts there are like this at the moment, it seems quite common to find cars being sold by BMW that haven't stuck to the 2 year rule.

Everyone will tell you something different, but all agree that you should be getting money off because of the service schedule hasn't been stuck to 100%. You will find buyers are wary when you come to sell it on and they will want money off the price too.

So, get haggling

Will I still be able to get it covered by the authentic BMW warranty?

I thought it would be OK as it's all be done by the same BMW group company (Synter)?

If BMW are selling as an AUC then all should be OK regarding warranty, but you could always contact BMW UK just to confirm. As glasto said been a few on here recently that have stretched the service window, but the dealers don't seem to worry. I bet they shafted the seller though and will still try to sell for top money.

Yeah I'd make the call to BMW just to be sure.

Again yours yours is a low milage car so I bet previous owner was going off OBC

I spoke with BMW - wasn't as issue at all and I can put it on the BMW warranty scheme. Just the usual rules of continuing to get it serviced at a BMW dealer.

Thanks all!

I would still use it as a bargaining tool - you will find buyers are wary when you come to sell and that will make it harder to sell and possibly affect its value too. Without a doubt you should try for some more money off.

Ask BMW UK to put it in writing, this car has not been correctly serviced, you will possibly have problems on resale and I would not buy it.
There are loads around be patient and buy the car that has been serviced correctly and looked after.

Its actually, technically still under warranty as when it was purchased a year ago Sytners did the first service at the same time AND provided another years warranty it being an AUC.

So when the warranty ends in a week or so I can extend it again.

All sounded pucker to me?

Agreed

Just make sure you are happy when you come to sell that buyers will be wary as you were.
