Section 75 protection applies to all credit card companies for purchases between £100 be £30,000. They cannot get out of it.

No, as long as the price is over 100, a pound on the credit card is sufficient, the card company is then jointly liable with the supplier for the WHOLE purchase price.
Got £15k cm from capital one 14 years ago when the alternator went on my ML. Dealer refused to fix it, as had changed trading name but I paid the deposit on the credit card. AND I got to keep the car!
