Passenger side Xenon not working.....Bulb blown?

Hi all,

I got into my car yesterday after work and got the dreaded bulb warning light on the dash. I went out to investigate and noticed that my passenger side xenon was not working. I got home and turned the car off and quickly went upstairs quickly to grab something before i headed out again.

When i got out to the car again a few minutes later i started the car and the light lit up and the error bulb didn’t appear on the dash but instead of the bulb being a white/blue colour it was very pink and not as bright.

I have left for work this morning and its not coming on at all now again and the light is on the dash.

I have ordered a new bulb as this was the cheapest option to look at first, does this sound like a bulb issue to you guys or is it more likely to be the ballast or igniter problem?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Ash

Sounds like a bulb issue. They go pink before they fail, one of mine started going pink earlier this year and I've had no issues since replacing both bulbs. It usually takes quite a while so it's surprising you didn't notice it earlier.

Yea its been fine Bing which is why im concerned its not just the bulb.

I checked them both last week and no pink tint was seen at all, they were both looking fine, i have heard they go pink before they actually go which is why i was suprised to see it go without any warning as such, i have read that ballasts are common to fail would i get the same issues with this problem?

I have ordered one bulb for now and hopefully that fixes it, if that does fix it i will order another new bulb of the same and replace the oherside also.

Quick update on this,

New bulb arrived today went outside to fit it and now we have fully working lights :)

Only took 5 minutes to fit (was alot easier than i thoguht it was going to be) now its as good as new :)

I have ordered one for the otherside too now so i will have a matching set.

Thanks for the advice

Ash

A 5 minute 'easy change" ..
That must be some sort of a record !
Took me over 5 minutes to find the fender port.
Another 5 minutes cursing BMW Engineers..
Only 5 minutes cursing ?
We all have our special talents.

All's well that ends well...
I expect you will be the Go to Guy for bulb extraction.
