Passenger side versus Driver side

I find it interesting when i see a post that says "On the Passenger side..............". Are they referring to the European or USA? In the USA the passenger side is on the right side, others are on the left side. :roll: :!:
 
People don't look beyond their own country, so when I say passenger side I'm talking about the left 'nearside', and never consider other countries who drive on the wrong side :P :wink:

It's a leftover from what was once the so called british Empire. Most countries that were once part of it still drive on the left unless on mainland Europe where they drive on the right.

The countries that drive on the left mostly use kilometers for distance and speed apart from the islands including the current UK which still use miles and mph.

The countries that drive on the left also have an unhealthy interest in the most boring waste of time ever invented by anyone ever. Cricket.
 
Yes would be ideal if people distinguished right from left side as not all cars on the sand road will have the steering wheel on the same side and therefore the passanger side is then the same as the drivers side for others.

I rarely use 'passanger side' or 'drivers side' when writing about cars or speaking with people who know about cars and use the correct term of nearside and offside. Still doesn't help if you don't know what country they are talking about.
 
The left hand side of the road is the proper way to do it!
Wasn't it old Bonapart who changed it?
