parting company with the zed(maybe)

i came from a e46 to the zed and now i'm thinking of going back to an e46!!
good move or bad move?
it was a 330 diesel to a 3.0 zed but now i have the open top bug and the need for more than two seats and a little more fuel economy wouldn't go a miss, i'm thinking of trading it for a nice 330cd m sport cab i have seen, its low miles and the 6 speed 205 brake one
what's every ones opinion on my decision to move away from the roadster?!
shall i just line up for the firing squad now...........

Don't do it!! I don't mind diesel cars at all, but not in a convertible

What's the price to upgrade, and the full spec of the planned new one?

Sounds like a plan. I had an E46 325i and quite liked it, and now that I'm seling my Z4 roadster, I too am considering a 3-series cab as a 2nd car.

I had two 3 series diesels before and loved them, but have to agree with wondermike diesel and cab dont go together.

its a 2005 330cd m sport cab silver with grey leather and a blue hood, they are changing the interior trim from wood to piano black its got heated seats, bluetooth wind deflector 18'' mv2 alloys m sport II pack one owner and only 17,000 miles on the clock,....... i loved my other 330d and thought i had everything in a 330d cab,the sunshine the good looks of the car and economy plus as much torque as a m3........
so tell me why you dont think diesel in a cab is a good idea??
id rather have a diesel for tax reasons.....

The diesel will be a good engine for sure, but the rattle!? Not so bad when moving at constant speeds, but under acceleration or when idle it may get annoying.

i didnt think it had that much of a rattle......,i drive a diesel van all day and ya cant get any more noisy than that!!
just need to turn the choons up a little.....

+1

I love the BMW Diesel engines, and was looking at E90 330d Sports myself before going for the Z4, but the noise just wouldnt be right. I suppose I'm also not a fan of four seater cabs either, alright with kids in the back but adults tend to look silly.

we dont have any kids, the reason for 4 seats is purely for them moments where you need more than two and they are becoming more common now....... if i could id keep the zed but i think i need a little more room and more fuel economy........

Depends what your after a suppose - 4 kids - various ages 10 - 30, grandchildren 1 - 7 - the Z'd is fun/play :) for us ( SWBO and self) - Our old Passat Motion is for Hauling and Holidays, and it's clocking just over 100,000+ miles pretty well. Holds 100mph + and a tadge in Europe on a long pull. Calais - to Venice - in a very very short time run last year. Daresay a Beemer 'D' would do better and cheaper :D drool
