Parrot CK3100

Hi Guys/Gals,

Had my Z4 2.5si for 2 weeks now and it is, well amazing.

I had the parrot kit in my mini. I think it will fit with the same adaptor cable that i had to my business head unit in the Z4, but where have you guys mounted the lcd panel? Not keen on putting it on top of the dash (horizontal surface) as it was difficult to press the buttons, but not sure what vertical places are suitable.

Anyone got any photos of their installs?

Cheers

:D

I think the underwhelming response to your request is because hardly anyone has one fitted, this is one of the only pics I remember, not the same Parrot as yours I don't think though -

What about putting it near the lightswitch on the right hand side, or use something from this site http://www.dsldevelopments.com/brodit/holder/Parrot+CK3100-Brodit-Holder.asp

wondermike you beat me to it, you are correct though that I have a LS3200

The benefits of having the unit there is that its a damage free mount, and you can use the access hole underneath for all the cables.

The other option would be to mount of the dash panel between the radio and steering wheel, by removing the radio and the panel screws should give enough room to pull the cable through.

Also notice I mounted the mic on the steering column, again this requires no holes as there is a gap in the leather cover for the steering column.

If you want any more info on my install peartree........ let me know

I had an installer put mine in. He managed to put the mic just above the rear view mirror. Not sure how, but he put the mic cable behind the passenger pillar and through the bottom of the glovebox so it's all hidden away. The LCD display is mounted right next to the dash on the left hand side. There's a screw into the top of the dash, but the rubber surface seems to hide the hole for when you are wanting to sell the car (and keep the kit!). It's not exactly simple to get to the buttons, but it's not too bad.

I owuld suggest fitting the mic on the steering column as this is where BMW moved it to with the facelift cars. It will suffer with less interference if it's located here.

I can imagine that removing the screw would leave little or no marks in the dash, I know this from when i fitted sat nav when cutting the hole, but no way would I put a screw in the dash to hold something I might later remove, or somebody might need to remove, for fear of damage.

On my previous Z, I had installed mine between the radio and the instrument cluster. Just stuck it on with the adhesive backing it came with and it did the business and looked pretty neat to be honest. It was very easy to operate from there too.

I've got a picture 'somewhere' I'm sure..

Thanks all for your replies, I installed it just as Senwar suggested I will post a photo up when I get a chance. Now for somewhere to mount the ipod....

My ipod is in the glovebox, dont need to touch it, but depends on the interface your using, if you are using the aux input then I you could you the mount I did for the BT display.

Nice one mate.

As srhutch says, the ipod depends on what interface you're using. In my previous Z, I also had it in the glovebox when using a dension kit. In this one, I've got it in the centre console above the DVD unit for the nav, using an Intravee.

Just bought one of these and will be taking it to have it fitted i think - unless someone can confirm that it is easy?

I fitted mine and it was pretty easy.

You need to take the radio out, and fit part of the unit behind there (forgot what it was called - was the mute adapter I think), and I threaded the LCD wiring through the top of the centre console if I remember correctly. I originally booked it in to have it fitted myself, but had to cancel and decided to try.

I have a Z4 loom as well - already sorted - should be getting delivered on Monday with a bit of luck.

Im literally useless with things like that and would rather pay to have it done that risk screwing it up, but if its easy enough, Im game to try! 8)

Alex, it's easy, buy yourself a Z4 Parrot loom @ £15 ish, if you want anymore info let me know.
Thats what I was thinking of - loom!

Mate - I'm the worst person ever when it comes to attempting DIY stuff. But since getting the Z's I've decided to try things myself. Ive since fitted:

To first Z
Cruise
Dension Icelink
Parrot kit
Cupholders

To this one
DICE Ipod unit
Replaced the DICE and installed an Intravee.

Its really worth giving it a try yourself. It may get fiddly at times, but its very satisfying, and if someone as useless/lazy etc as me can do it, anyone can.

Im also after a decent ipod set up but Im yet to have it confirmed whether they work with the Carver hifi.

Do you have Carver? If so, any ideas?
