Parrot 9200

Cheesed off with the E71 Nokia/Z Bluetooth connection. Although it pairs with bluetooth, can't get directory and often calls won't go through either. Now I managed to get that vent off and there is a big gaping hole looking at me, I have decided to go for the Parrot 9200. It pairs with the E71 and does all it should for the phone. I am also keen because of the ipod and aux in connection (Spotify). Thing is:

1. Where best to place the Parrot blue box
2. Where best to fit the screen
3. I am interested in using the steering wheel remote control, anyone else done it and any issues?

I know I need a new loom at the back of the headset for the Parrot to connect to, but I believe there is also another wire I need to ensure Parrot turns off with ignition? (or something like that)

Seemed to think there was a thread recently which identified a company who could provide a wiring loom for Parrot devices to work from the steering wheel controls - worth a search.

1. My blue box is attached to the underside of the heater controls, on the removable plastic panel above the ashtray.

2. I umm’ed and ahh’ed for ages over this, I didn’t want to make it intrusive like some people have so I ended up mounting the bracket upside down from the very same plastic panel the blue box is attached to, so the display hangs under the heater controls. One thing to note when doing this is watch where the cigarette lighter is located, don’t mount the screen directly above that or it could interfere with plugging TomTom etc in. Position is going to come down to personal choice. I also used a nut and bolt rather than the Blue Peter nonsense you get with the kit.

3. You need an additional Connect2 loom from ebay, around £50 from memory, I didn’t bother as I saw it as a waste of money.

Yes you need a loom to intercept the speaker/headunit I/O and converts the BMW Quad Lock to a standard ISO connection which the Parrot can use, again these can bought on ebay for ~£20 and literally just plug into the back of the headunit, then the parrot is connected to that, then the speaker loom after that. Essentially all the audio signal now travels through the Parrot.

You need an ignition feed yes, I took mine from the wing mirror fuse in the fuse box (behind the glove box) using a piggy back fuse connector, again from ebay.
