Parking sensors.

My Z4 doesn't have rear parking sensors, but I'm wondering whether these can be retrofitted easily enough?

It's a 2003 3.0i, which I've read has the full wiring loom, so is it a case of buying a bumper fitted with parking sensors and simply plugging the parking sensor wiring connector into my existing wiring, or is it much more complex than that?

There’s a module you’ll need, then a bumper with the sensor brackets, and the actual sensors

My car had the wiring loom all hidden in the boot.

You’ll also need the gong which provides the sound, but the wires for that should also be readily available, but maybe wrapped up and not in plain sight even with the under steering wheel panel removed

I’m waiting to get a rear bumper before I can complete my retrofit

There are retrofit instructions just a google search away.... easy to find (but it’s late here)

Oh, it also needs the sensors to be coded to activate them, but apparently that’s a simple task with software like INPA

Dont know why anyone would want them on a Zed really I have them on mine but I disabled them as I found them really annoying

Ideally they're more needed on the front, rather than the rear. I was only contemplating it as there was a rear bumper on ebay fitted with parking sensors, and as mine has a scuff on it, I thought it would be a good idea to do the upgrade.

But if it's not just a plug and play thing, then I'll not bother   cheers for the heads up, paulc_bkk

Here’s a link to instructions so you can see the full process for yourself....

You’ll need to scroll down towards the bottom of the pdf list but you’ll find it under ‘parking distance....’

Loads of other useful retrofit links there too
