Paranoid Me needs advice! Loose Intake Pipe

Earlier in the week, I retrofitted a sound generator. Sounds fantastic, but the car was driving a bit strangely, very on/off on acceleration and lumpy, also kangarooing. I suspected a vacuum leak so had a look today and found that the large pipe that goes on to the engine block (air intake) was loose, so was allowing unfiltered hot air from the engine compartment straight into the engine. Needless to say I've fitted it properly this time, but I'm concerned that during the 50 or so miles I've driven with the pipe loose, I could have sucked some grit or dirt into the cylinders.

What do you think? Have I ruined my engine, or should I just ignore it and get on with my life?

It'll be fine.

Think of all the people who drive around completely oblivious to the huge holes in the inlet pipe fror hundreds of miles.

Your engine is definitely completely trashed. You have no real choice except to give me your car for scrap and I’ll furnish you with a replacement Maldives Blue Z4 at a very reasonable price. :D
