He was so shocked, he said it twice... :P

Went for some groceries at our local Tesco this morning, garage open as usual, no queues and virtually all the pumps appeared to be in operation (they always seem to have one or two hoses with covers on) - hopefully a sign that some semblance of normality is returning

I am supposed to be going up to Sudbury and then to the IVM at Duxford next week but down here on the south coast none of the petrol stations have any diesel, currently have just under half a tank so doubt ifI will risk going which is a shame and will cost me per paid hotel and tickets.

Could you claim on travel insurance?

Not sure as the last time I had a problem ended up stuck in Jersey was told I wasn’t covered as hadn’t left the UK, but luckily have managed to fill up today

No shortage on the continent (France, Belgium or Germany).

Got to our normal comfort break at Heverlee services in Belgium (still had 1/4 tank from my trip down from Liverpool), and filled up at @1.59/litre (diesel). Got into Germany and saw prices €0.10/litre cheaper, so we’ll either just fill up as we need it, or divert to Luxembourg to save another €0.10/litre. Averaging about 50mpg with a combination of 100km 80+mph motorway runs and 30-50mpg surakarta/suburban twisties.

Tunnel was very simple, no delays or queues checking in, and just a quick passport check, then covid certificate check and we were through.

On arrival in Calais, it was straight off and out with no further checking.

Every store in Germany requires a mask, and the restaurants require masks and covid certificates - no exceptions, the police will be called. Some restaurants/hotels are running skeleton staff and limited menus though.

Towns are relatively quiet, as are most roads…a 2 hour drive through the Mosel valley was very calming…and not seen any sign of shortages in shops.

My local Tesco was very quiet when I went there around lunch-time with all pumps working, but no diesel or Momentum.

Still I figured the 3 Series will cope on 95RON and at £1.349 a litre I stuck £50's worth in so I'm out of lockdown again!

Went to see Bond, James Bond last night and decided to fill up at Sainsbury’s Hessle on the way home @ 130.9 pence/litre for petrol, we were the only car in the garage at 21:50

is this nonsense all over now then? :?
Not near Newbury. Went searching for diesel on Monday night. Found 'some' after passing 5 empty garages , all shut shop. Was only allowed £35 worth as well. Still, better than nothing.

I think the panic buying has subsided but it looks like there are still delivery issues if pumps are out of action.

Its a joke really watching upbeat Boris today at the Conservative conference, this Government is really taking their eye off the ball in so many areas of daily life

Tim.
