P114d - How to clean Eventuri & MAF safely

So does noone know which side bank 2 is??

The more I research this fault the more possibilities I find. The likely culprits appear to be
MAF - less likely but possible, can rule that out soon, may disconnect the MAF tomorrow and see if running on the stock profile makes a difference
Vacuum leak - CCV? Or Exhaust problem? How much effort is it for an indy to do a smoke test to check for leaks?
Lamba sensors playing up i.e. knackered and simply need replacing - possible but I get the feeling they are working from the INPA data, i.e. the voltages are changing on both banks so they are compensating for the extra air in the system

I tried to get DIS working tonight but failed - could not communicate error, so will need to tshoot that before I can run more diags

It's not easy to do a smoke test, many independent garages don't have one..

The machines alone are £800 ...

We do have one and charge £60... But it's usually in the line of getting the car diagnosed..

You are at the point that knowledge is the next step..

Try the maf when it comes, if that doesn't work then it's time to give it to someone that can fix it..

Or... You will end up just throwing parts at it and costing yourself money..

Do what you can and visually look for splits or chaffing on any air/ vacuum pipes in engine bay... A blow or leak from the exhaust will also introduce unmetered air into the system...

First of all, let me say that the K&N filter in my Gruppe-M has never been cleaned & re-oiled - it is as it was from the factory.

In 150,000 miles, I've had 2 MAFs - both since I fitted the Gruppe-M (about 10,000 miles). Coincidence or not I don't know, but I'm back on the standard airbox & paper filter for now and we'll see how it goes.

That's very interesting info thanks. I think from the reading I have done I could see why there is a relationship between oil based filters and MAF's becoming damaged by repeated heated with a fine oil coating.

Update - Replaced the MAF, cleared the codes and lamba adaptations.
Went for a 20 mins drive, mixed driving. No codes were seen, car felt normal.
Stopped on the drive, left running, within 10 mins first code appeared p114d, no EML shown. Within another 5 mins second code, same one that was showing before. Still no EML but I guess once it throws the code a few more times the EML will show.

UPDATE. The problem has been found and hopefully fixed. A smoke test was done on inlets and exhausts and an exhaust leak was found on bank 2. Thanks for the helpful suggestions, Z4M2006 you were right thinking vac leak.
