My E46 has the same problem Nick. I ran over an exhaust silencer thrown up by a car in front of me on the motorway. As it bounced under the car it took out part of the undertray and the temperature sensor. I wouldn't bother replacing mine as I can live with it being stuck reading +50 degrees, the trouble is that when it rains it alternates between +50 and -40 degress every few seconds, and the bloody low temperature warning beep goes off each time it does so :headbang:
I bought a cheap, second hand sensor and I'm now looking for the relevant undertrays to fit it to.
