Our car seems to have perked up!

It feels a bit 'looser', more manoeuvrable, keener to rev, but not really any quicker.
I am tempted to blame the car, we gave it a bit of a workout over the weekend.
It is an (06) pre-facelift 2.0 E85 SE, done 52000 miles.

Is this possible or is it me?

:)

anyway does anyone know if the engine management or some other parts learn new tricks if the car is stretched for a few miles?

I am just curious, that's all.

Modern day cars have the ECU adapt to driving style (not 100% certain if Z4s do this, but typically newer cars will). If you've been doing lots of sedate driving, then open the car up and rev it through the gears it will feel a little more keen on the throttle

I think the pace at the front of the pack was making you have to press the big pedal a little further down that normal. :D

I think the Z does have an adaptive throttle, as there is a procedure for re-setting it... Can't remember what it is as I have searched for throttle re-set each time I have done it

Anyway, if you do lots of sedate, then a good hoon, it seems to get sharper even without the re-set.

And as for the National, that pic Guiseley just posted in the thread is AWESOME :driving: :driving:

Our's too.
Hit 100k just in time for our first visit to the MoT station with our 2003, 3.0 Z.

Needed 3 tyres, bought four non runflats from black circles (£580 ish) and needed replacement wishbone ball joints (so complete arm both sides) @ £95 plus fitting, so MoT cost £1000+ :?

Back to thread though, feels more responsive, feels like semi sport button without sport button pressed, new tyres (Hankook V12), sound good ( I like a bit of tyre noise) and grip well.

I think BMW built a safety valve in to all Z4's that comes unstuck @ 100k and all hell is released

Mate - I've got loads from the last couple of years - seem to get cracking weather too. Might need to reset your audible speed limiter tho ;)
