Put some stuff in the boot today, one item was a flask (seeing as we can't stop at a cafe). Wanted to keep it upright and gently lowered the boot lid to see if it would hit the top of the flask.
It didn't, and as I thought I hadn't shut the lid properly I had my fingers under the lid to open it........ not realising that it's a soft close lid and the bloody thing closed tight, with my fingers still under it. I pulled them out when I heard the motor start to close it but don't know whether I would have lost them if I hadn't got them out - is there a cut out if resistance is felt?

Result was a lot of swearing, badly bruised fingers and crushed nails. Worst part was my wife drove and she hit a kerb trying to park, scuffed an alloy and took a chunk out of a nearly new tyre.

I swore some more after that 😞

My wife often thinks it is just us that have bad days like that. Time for a chill pill... I go nuts and swear a lot in the heat of the moment though. :D

I think the only resistance sensing items on the car are the windows, beware of placing items in the boot to the sides of the main storage area, there are no sensors there either :o

Definitely not - I've closed the boot a couple of times by mistake with an extension lead present (connected to my ctek charger) and it has left a decent dent in the plastic flex. Imagine it would be pretty nasty on a finger or 4.

I once left a Tupperware on the top of the roof shelf and when the roof landed on it there was lots of straining noises whilst it tried to crush it! Fortunately it came back up without any trouble.. you'll have your own stories to tell I am sure despite your best intentions.. some more expensive than others! Its only money (so my wife tells me) ! :fuelfire:

Sorry to hear of your woes OP - some days are just like that!

I hope the rest of your Bank Holiday trip out was more of a success.

Well, I got to drive home so that was an improvement on the journey up! Quite impressed with the fuel consumption though - 40mpg over 200 miles at 75-80mph on the M5 for 60 odd miles and A roads for the rest of it. Chasing my mates on their sports bikes on Sunday I only got 25mpg........
