Orange Engine Light

Guys,

Was reversing today and the car nearly stalled (to used to driving diesels and not using the throttle pedal). After this a orange light in the shape of an engine has been lit on the dash. Is this serious, will it go away? Car is not near service, indicator is saying 13,000 miles to next service.

If it hasn't gone away after a few restarts then it's probably there to stay. You need to get your garage to find out the cause, or simply reset it to see if it pops up again.

Had this a few weeks ago, however mine was coughing a spluttering and going nowhere, that did resolve itself after restarting the car. Sytners where very insistent it should NOT be driven. I was under the impression, orange meant drive with care and red was DO NOT drive, but sytners said otherwise :?

Anyway mine turned out to be what they call a sporadic fault, which basically means they do not know what triggered it and they just reset and it has been fine since, not sure on the cost of investigation and reset as i am on a warranty. Fingers crossed yours will just be a reset

I got a 12 month warranty when I bought it last month. Got it from a Nissan garage with their Gold Standard Warranty.... Thank god! I'm not to worried about it as all seems to be fine. I'll see if the light goes away by itself as I say elsewhere in the forum that they can go away after ten journeys if the issue was a one off. If not I'll drop it back to the garage.

Light went out today so must have been a one off.
