Opening roof with keyfob not working now?

Hi everyone,

Picked up my 2012 Z4 28i yesterday and when previously viewing it, the dealer used the keyfob to open the roof. However, I cant do that and I've tried both remotes? Press open and then press again and hold.

The opening light illuminates in the cockpit but that's all? I read somewhere that may be only one key is coded to do this?

Any ideas how to solve this please?

Many Thanks,
Steve.

Have I not read somewhere that the battery has to have a certain amount of charge to do that! can't remember though if that is with or without the engine running!

Thanks guys.

When it comes to fault finding I research everything. However, I only got the car late last night and was at work first thing this morning. Shortly after writing my original post I went and had another look and found the luggage tray was not properly seated. This therefore has cured that issue and the batteries seem pretty good with a good distance of operation.

Now need to find out why the mirrors are not folding in. Maybe a setting in iDrive? or a switch somewhere. Will investigate tonight, thanks again.

Steve :)

there's a thread, where you'll see that Carly was used successfully for this - though it is not a guarantee that it would in your case too

You may not have folding mirrors? :?

I might not have, I will establish this later when I check everything out. Was kinda hoping I did though.

Steve.
Run a vin decoder on your vehicle. I think you'll need this option:
S313A Foldin outside mirror
Mine does, and they fold on lock (press and hold the lock button for a few seconds to get them to fold)

Unfortunately I do not see that option, never mind I am still extremely happy with the car so far, thank you for your time.

Steve.

My fobs didn’t lower the roof when I picked mine up.

Take the car for a good run the battery needs to be charged. This should sort it.

Enjoy the car.

Roof OK and I don't have folding mirrors. Well only if I manually fold them. But I can live with that.

Should you be able to open roof on a 2010 e89.
If so what is procedure.thanks
Yes. Press and hold the unlock button on the key fob (assuming key fob operation is what you're asking? You didn't say). May need coding, but do-able on all models. Later models with 'comfort access' option can do the open/close via the key fob as far as I'm aware. I don't think earlier models can close the roof remotely, unless you buy/install the 3rd-party smarttop module.
Happy to be corrected if this is not right
