Open door with manual key: alarm

Hi all,

Just bought an 2010 z4.

One of my hobbies is surfing. In my previous car ( Alfa Giulietta) I had a spare key without elektronica which was easy to use when going into the water.

With the z4 I have tried to use the manual key to lock / open the car while leaving the fob in the car (without comfort acces). This works fine. Only problem I have is that when I open the door with the manual key the alarm goes off.

Is there a solution for this?

Thanks,

Joop

According to the handbook the alarm can be activated and deactivated with the key, but if yours isn't deactivating does it deactivate when you put the fob into the ignition slot?

I would prefer to only take the manual key in the water: smaller and no risc of damaging it with water

I’m a kitesurfer. My small board fits on the passenger seat. For my bigger surfboard I am still looking for a good solution (only have the car for a week now).
I am thinking of 2 solutions:
Revo rack which should look something like this with a surfboard: https://www.google.nl/imgres?imgurl=http://revo-rack.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/mercedes-slk-r171-ski-rack.001.jpeg&imgrefurl=https://revo-rack.com/&tbnid=Kj0csEXi87KB3M&vet=1&docid=YRdJ6CUpG48XWM&w=768&h=1024&hl=nl-nl&source=sh/x/im
Possible downside: will the surfboard catch to much wind?

Or the seasucker board rack: https://www.seasucker.com/products/board-rack
Possible downside: I was hoping to put the front suction cups on the front windshield: https://images.app.goo.gl/aCbDdYcDKV7SACLF6
But there is not enough room on the windshield due to the wipers.
I could mount it to the roof and rear windshield but I am not too sure of it is wise to mess with the roof construction.

After the final choice I will show a pic. Promise not to laugh because it might look ridiculous :D

Thats also what I read. But it does not deactivate.
When I open the door the alarm goes of. If I than take the fob (which I hide inside) I can deactivate the alarm by clicking on ‘open’.
Only problem whith this is that it draws attention. When I would do this numerous times on the same parking lot I am afraid it will become obvious I leave the fob in the car while surfing (you can start the car with the fob even without the manual key in it).

I had the same problem when diving with the alarm. Haven't found a solution to it yet I'm afraid, but I take the whole key down with me in a dry pouch now, was only a tenner I think. Not had any problems yet at +30m down. Can tuck it into your wetsuit to keep it out the way

Bummer. Was hoping of a solution because manual said it was possible.
Will try the dry pouch.

Thanks all!

So what you guys are saying is that if you manually lock the car using the key in the door that it sets the alarm anyway?
How does that work?

I don’t know how it works but it does. Biggest problem is that the alarm does not deactivate when you unlock with the key -> alarm goes off
