Online service history

I asked for service history information on a possible purchase today. Reassuringly it was sent straight away, even more comforting is the fact is it’s virtually all BMW.

That said it is all taken from the BMW system, so a bewildering collection of mostly green, orange symbols with the odd red item thrown in, all accompanied by various numbers and dates, familiar to many of you I’m sure.

I can’t find anywhere on line that tells me what ALL of the symbols mean. More importantly what are the keys things I am looking for among the 10 years of numbers and symbols?

So in short, I have the full service history in front of me - I just want to be sure that it’s telling me what I think it’s telling me :scratchhead:

Should you buy it - When I purchased my X5 it too only had an electronic service history. I bought a service book, dispatched it to the original dealer and asked them to update the service book history which they did for free and stamped it up and returned.
I now have a hard copy which includes my interim services and maintenance in full which I have filled out for recording purposes.
Cant help with the ssymbols but the fact that it has a BMW service history is reassuring to say the least

is there a way to get previous service history from BMW online without knowing where the car was from originally?

Now this is interesting, my initial post has well over 100 views but nobody has been able to provide any insight into the hieroglyphics that appear on the BMW online service records.

I assume when buying a used car we all really want to find one with the lovely acronym “FBMWSH”... even if we don’t really understand it when we get to see it

Any garage registered with the BMW system (there is a fee for access) will be able to tell you - although they may charge for this if you're not having work done to cover some of their outlay. Its not just BMW dealerships most good indies will be able to add (and read) your car service details from the system.

Taken from my service book, might help you

I thought the same. Are we supposed to guess what the symbols look like and then guess their meaning?

A full BMW service history is better than nothing but a full service history from a highly regarded specialist like Darren Wood or Birds would be much more appealing. I could write a book on dealership fcukups and I've visited 5 different dealerships across the UK for various work on different cars so it's not like you can blame it as a one-off.
