On the scales (2004 2.2)

I'm always curious to know what my cars actually weigh and my colleague has the gear. My car is all standard spec 2.2 with manual fabric seats, alloys are less than a kg each heavier than OE 17s, only extra is CD changer and shown with a 1/3 tank of fuel:

Slightly more than I'd hoped, but still nearly 200kg less than my 330Ci was!

Great piece of kit - bet he'd have a queue if he advertised on here, love to know what mine weighed with and without hardtop for instance

Cheers - I'd love to know the overall weight though.

It doesn't weigh that much, more big and awkward. I'd love to be able to take it off myself though.

O.P. had a weight of 1,317kg for his 2.2
Quick google. On Wikipedia the curb weights are as follows (pinch of salt)...

2.0i - 1,295 kg
2.2i - 1,330 kg
2.5i - 1,335 kg
2.5i - 1,345 kg
2.5si - 1,360 kg
3.0i - 1,365 kg
3.0i - 1,370 kg
3.0si - 1,400 kg
M - 1,450 kg

Not sure about the replication of the 2.5i and 3.0i with minor different weights. But it'll give everyone a ball-part figure without having to queue up to see Sandy

Cornwall might be a bit far for most!

Leather manual seats are heavier than mine, no doubt the electric ones add a fair bit and 6 speed boxes.

I bought a pair of Leather M heated electric seats - they were bloody heavy when I took delivery :o

Does beg the question just how much heavier is the 3.0i engine than the 2.2i. There both the same basic head/block. Most of the quoted difference in weight above must be the electric seats/bigger wheels/brakes etc the 3.0i has as standard over the 2.2. Alot of other extras weigh next to nothing like cruise/heated seat pads but some like 18" wheels over 16" do add a fair bit.

I wonder if the M Sport Seats are heavier than their standard counter parts. Should have measure them when I swapped mine over. I just remember them both being bloody heavy!

All in all I dont think any E85/6 is particularly lardy for a road going sports car. Boxsters/Caymans are a similar weight and Nissan Z cars are massively heavier. Sure MX5 are light, but there like shoe boxes and not practical for larger/taller people.

I had my M weighed a while back with one of the seats (electric heated weight ~29kg iirc) swapped for a carbon bucket (6kg), Ap brakes front and rear which must weigh at least a quarter of the oem weight, lighter wheels (~20kg). Half tank of fuel.
I was surprised to see it come in at 1380kg, lighter than I thought it would be.
I've done a few other things since so will get it weighed again next time I'm at the shop.

I was more than happy to ditch my standard electric seats. For manual sports seats. Especially after feeling the difference in weight.

I am hopping with the mods i have done that my car will be more 12?? than 1300

Engine weight must be heavier on a 3.0 as it will have larger pistons, conrods etc and probably bigger tougher valves and crankshaft, or am I missing something.
