Old Cracked Tyres

Looking to replace the MPS4's soon, 6 years old and starting to crack. 4ml at the back, 6ml at the front, roughly.

Just wondered if they had any value and were worth selling, or if I should leave at the Tyre fitters for them to dispose of.

how bad are the cracks? cracking on the sidewall or between the treads?

personally, i'd just leave them with the tyre fitters for them to dispose of.

Sidewall, and would probably get through an MOT. Yes, will probably do that, just wanted to check I wasn't scrapping something that had some use to someone

Order some new tyres and have some fun destroying the old ones, enter the tyre shop on a set of smoking slicks. You know you want to. :D  :driving:

I am more surprised about 6 year old tyres cracking already. I know you park outside, but even taking that into consideration that seems rather quick.

They are not too bad really, this is by far the worst tyre

I'd be disappointed with that after only 6 years, but you could probably get another year out of them!

Get a tin of Hot Lap and paint it all over them…it claims to rejuvenate old tyres.

Does it work on Knees? :)

MPSS were always bad for cracking like that early in their life. It didn't affect their performance and I think your MPS4 look ok. I doubt an MOT tester would give an advisory for them.

I'm always surprised at the used tyres for sale on eBay. Some of them look a mess and they still ask strong money.

[ref]flimper[/ref], depending on where you are in the country and if these are Z4M sized tyres I would be interested in them.

I need a new set of tyres for my car and I would like to have 45 front and 40 rear profiles but worried about rubbing. With your old tyres I could test them before committing to buy.

Thanks

Sure...but not sure why you're wearing tyres on your knees :P

My tyres never got old enough to get age-related cracks in them...unless this happens in less than 6 months as well :o
