Ok whats the right money for Z4MR and some servicing Qs

Thing is the Z interior does ware easy and if you know what you are doing its easy to sort out.

Milage wouldn't bother me up to 60k although I do prefer lower. Depends what you want if you have aspired to own such a car why buy a cheap tired one?

I bought mine at 46k which I thought was quite a lot, but at the time there were 3 Z4MCs for sale and it was the spec I wanted and was in great nic so pulled the trigger.

If the cars right and they offer you a decent warranty for piece of mind then go for it. Scratches ware etc can be repaired easily, its other things I would be worried about simple things off the bat..

Tyres - a new set will cost you £700-1250 depending on size and make. Best off putting the best you can afford.

Service - Where is it in terms of service? a Service 2 can cost 800-1200 depending where you go. Oil service £400

Brakes - if they are coming toward the end of there life which is around 40-50k, off the top of my head I cant remember how much discs and pads are all the way round, but I would say probably budget 300-400 for this.

Tax - cost £475 to tax these bad boys

Insurance - anywhere between 400-2000 depending on age and area

Wheel refurb - £400 all round

Aesthetic modifications - If the car needs a good detail, scratch removal, dents, Interiors ware easily so bolsters, steering wheels ect Budget £100-1000? Depending on what you want or how experienced you are. I do this myself and got my car to showroom condition.

Warrenty - if these bothers you, which I think is worth having as my car has had £1500 worth done this year. This costs anywhere from £600-800 depending on age and milage.

These are just off the bat costs. Many private sellers are selling the vehicles, because these costs mount and you wont get back while selling the car, but you can use this as leverage, these are things you need to bare in mind and check while buying. So buying a cheap private car can quickly mount into a garage queen and the milage doesn't quite match and you end up paying out more than you realise. Cheap punts can turn into expensive pits just to get them where you want.

These cars cost a lot to maintain but are easy to buy which is why you get quite a few poor examples. But these costs can be offset and most people will have done these things but there will be a few that try to take the piss.

But if you find a good one that ticks all the boxes you can just sit back and enjoy the ride, find a good one and these cars are probably one of the best cars £ for smiles you can buy atm

Michelin PSS in 225/45r18 and 265/40r18 will set you back about £800/set from Camskill (btw I've quoted 265/40r18 as Michelin have said they've no plans to introduce the 255/40r18 tyre to Europe). They do last longer than the OEM Continentals though, so whilst they may cost 20% more, they last 30% longer, as well as offering more wet & dry grip.

£400!!! Where have you been taking it? It should be no more than £200 - or less if you supply the oil yourself

Inspection 1 should be £600-£800 depending on the dealer.

Discs and pads all round from BMW (supply only) will set you back £800 - fronts £500, rears £300. Mine lasted over 40k miles, including a few track days & 'Ring trips.

You may want to get a quote from BMW Warranty before you pull the trigger on a warranty, as I did a quote last month on a 30k mile 2007 car and 40k 2006 car and they wanted £1900 for a fully-comp, no excess warranty.

Well I wasn't putting exact costs, but an idea.

Tyres estimates because it could have 19" on it like CSLs or reps.

With the oil service, Dont they do the brake fluid change at the same time?

Warranties, BMW are offering 2 year warranty with M cars which is what I got with mine.

Brake only every other year. Mine worked out at a brake fluid only as the oil was done the previous year.

No problem with that (other than the price of the oil service :poke: ), I was just adding some extra figures to give more of an idea of the ranges involved

Hmm going to be one of those nights - going to have a second look at a Z4MR tomorrow - going to be a tough call lovely car as the M is I will miss the 3.0i

Hmm you know what, with all the mods you've done, I'm not sure that I wouldn't just get an M bonnet and a fruitier exhaust for yours and keep it.

The eternal debate Mike ... I'll be keeping either a long time so the question is Do I keep the 3.0 forever or trade now for an alpina / M and keep it the next 5-6 years maybe more.
