Ok - Own up!

After being sensible and trying both a very nice 3.0Si Coupe and MC I made my mind up that it had to be the M. But before I jumped into the first coupe I had seen I just wanted to make sure the car was right having never driven an M before, so I also had a drive of an M R to ensure the car felt the same (engine noise / ride / gearbox etc) and it did. So wallet in hand I make the call to the dealer and made an offer which was rejected as they also has someone else interested that day and wanted a better price! You don't fool me that easily Mr Salesman....Urgency pitch....trying get my price up I thought! Well, I decide to hold back for a few hours and call back towards the end of the day with a revised offer.....SOLD.....only not to me...... seemingly there really was someone else interested, so a car that has been sat around for 3 months gets 2 offers in the same day and unfortunately for me, I wasn't the winner

So - OWN UP!!!! Who has bought themselves a lovely MC from Knaresborough?

To be fair to the garage they had been great throughout the process and its my own fault tarring them with the same brush as many car salesman thinking it was an urgency sales tactic!

So, if anyone wants to sell a nice low(ish) mileage MC I am in the market :headbang:

Ha, similar thing happened to me buying my last house. Had been on the market for a good few months, called the estate agent's bluff....he wasn't bluffing :(

Lawton Brook by any chance? :)

Not me, but I sat in that car if it was LB, inlaws live in Darley just down the road.

Yup!

And looking around, it seems there are not many cars around with such low mileage.

Nice part of the world though.

A couple of K over my budget I am afraid and I have slightly fallen for the cream leather! (Didn't think I wanted cream, but it actually set the car off really well) It seems the LB car ticked all my boxes, I was just a few hours late to realise it. Obviously I am going to have to sacrifice some element of my wish list for the car, but my upper budget is fixed unless EVERY box is ticked, then I just wont tell the Mrs!

But thanks for the link!

Well, it wasn't me.
It happened with the first M Coupe I was going to buy though. It had been on the forecourt of the dealer for a while and had very low milage as it had just sat in a dealer showroom I believe. I made a low offer and but was not contactable for most of the next 24 hours. When I managed to pick up my messages and call the dealer back as they had left a message for me the evening before only for it then to have been sold the very same day of me calling back. That car had just 150 miles on it (this was going back to 2009 now when I was first looking). I wasn't sure about it at first (Sepang Bronze) and had an interior swap out with another car (so was not orig spec). A forum member bought it back then and believe it's been sold on since.

Another one will come along for you to consider. As you know I was a little interested in that car but was going to see how it went for the next few weeks as it's just too far for me to travel at the moment and didn't want to make an offer blindly with this car

I did consider you as a potential sneak purchaser Darren! Its a shame, but hopefully the new owner enjoys the car. Now its just a case of sitting tight and not jumping in too soon - but damn I have an itch!
