Oil quantity for diff and gearbox

Hi

I Want to change the oils of my car (Z4 3.0i) and im decided to buy next:

For the Diff: Castrol Syntrax Long Life 75W-90
For the Gearbox: Castrol Syntrans B 75W

Anyone can confirms the liters needed for each? Thanks!

Manual gearbox was 1.5 litres.

I believe the diff is 1.2litres, but someone will confirm.

Thanks, but in manual transmission doesn't appear capacity

Differential, rear
Capacity : Capacity 1,2 litre

Use : Normal
Products : TRX Synth 75w90 (5252)

Transmission, manual 5/1
Use : Normal
Products : TRX Synth 75w80 (7765)

That's odd ? Anyhow you will need 2 litres for gearbox & 2 litres for diff (won't take all of it though )

As you add oil to both until it starts to come back out the filler hole - then you know it's full. Simples

Yes, but i need to know the quantity because i need to purchase the oils from internet.

You have to buy 2 litres of each , they don't sell it in exact amounts like 1.4 litre & 1 litre isn't enough :wink:

Useful point & I'm sure you'd have realised but make sure you can loosen off the fill plugs before draining the old oil out.

My diff took just under 1L and the manual box took about 1.4L.

On the subject of quantities is 1l enough to do a brake fluid change?
