Oil or Inspection 2?

If you do get inspection 2 done get as much proof as possible than the shims are checked.

My local dealer did a quick video when they did some work on my 1 series. A video or photos of the engine bay striped as well as measurements is what I would be sliming for. Especially from a main dealer.

If they are wrong on that, what else are they wrong on I wonder.

Yeah,I have an M,not sure what you're referring to with them being wrong mate,they advised me correctly & i followed their advice.
They are a very honest garage,look at my post in the dealer feedback section.
 
I referred to the fact that Inspection 2 is done on time, which is wrong - it is on miles.

Im sure they know what they're doing,its a bmw specialist garage with ex bmw mechanics, i'll trust their judgement,appreciate the input though pvr.
 
PVR is correct. inspection 2 is mileage based.

However I've decided to get inspection 2 done now at 42k and 8 years old even though the car tells me that I've 6,800 miles before it's due, which for me would be another year at least on my 5k miles per year.

I discussed this with Pete at Autotech in Telford, he seemed very relaxed about servicing on the 'M' and suggested that as long as my car had followed the BMW service schedule there was no need to 'over service' it. However, I wanted to get the diff oil and gearbox oil changed and have the Vanos/tappets checked by an expert so I decided to get the inspection 2 done now. So its going to Autotech in Telford week after next.

I'll report back on the experience in due course.
 
Car booked in at TWG Automotive for Inspection 2 on June 2nd, decided to break free from the shakels of BMW *gulp*. Will report back with hopefully some pics.
