Oil Level Sender Unit??

Hi all,

My oil level warning light hasn't been working forever (a long time anyway). I'm assuming it's the oil level sender unit but before I change it is there any way I can check it's the culprit? or test it when I remove it to change it?
Unfortunately I don't have a multi-meter tho I could maybe get one if that's the only way.

Thanks,
David

Should I expect an error message on the computer if the sender unit isn't working? or if there's a connection problem?
Thanks
David

These cars come with a range of engines. You need to state what you have before people can answer your question.

Quick update,
I've fitted a new sender unit as it's very easy to do during an oil change.
Hopefully that's cured the problem.
Only time (and low oil) will tell.
Cheers,
David

Hopefully that has fixed it, but it isn't such a problem on a pre-facelift as you've got a dipstick! (Unlike facelifts with the N52 engine).

My sender has been knackered for ages as confirmed by numerous Carly scans.
Not a worry for me tbh as I regularly check the level using the dipstick.
I'll get round to it one day when I drain the oil out when a change is due. I usually pump the oil out, preventing me from replacing the sender unit.
Hey ho.
