Oil level check

Having had the z4 for a couple of months I am a little worried about the oil level check. It keeps telling me it's ok When I press button etc but I have read that they use a little and without being able to check manually I am wondering if it might not be working properly or I am operating incorrectly. I am doing a daily 80mile commute so surely it would need a little by now

Ahhh the old electronic oil-level anxiety. What were BMW thinking??
Sell it and get a dipsticked pre-facelift M54.

With my Si I got into the habit of checking it each time I used it, if only to be sure the level sensor was working!

But there are 4 increments that show on the display, so you can see if it is using any. Mine had a service last June so it read full, but just over 2,000 miles later it is still showing 3/4 so that works out to a litre every 8,000 miles or so.

Some N52 engines seem to use more than others, but none of the 4 I've owned used nearly as much as the M54 engine in my 325Ti Compact!

The condition of the engine breather & it’s plumbing has a lot of influence on oil usage :o
