Oil Leak

Hi all

Removed my CCV and the diaphragm was split. Got all new parts...great

However, I thought this would have been the cause of an oil leak down the side of the engine (see attached pics)

Looks like this could be the oil filter housing gasket having failed...What does anyone think?

Cheers

Andy

It will be that, had mine replaced this year if its a N52 engine? Which engine/year is the car?

I take it this is at the front nearside of the car, and probably has a pool on the cylinder head above the headgasket where it likes to collect?

Mine is an M54 mate

There's small pools of oil around the webs in the casting if the block. Will clean it up and put a new gasket on and see how it goes.

Thanks for the reply.

Looks like oil filter housing gasket, £3.50 from BMW. Easy job
Just spray loads of brake cleaner on the engine and it will get rid of that oil leaving it dry and clean.
